Knox Box
Knox Box Information
It is the goal of the Alvaton Fire Department to provide the best and most up-to-date service to the people in our fire district. Therefore, the department has instituted the use of the Knox Rapid Entry System to provide ease-of-access and to streamline operations. The current system of notifying a building key holder and waiting for entrance keys to arrive causes the department unnecessary and often prolonged delays. In contrast, maintaining keys to alarmed buildings has become unmanageable and is causing delays when responding to emergencies.
In order to access buildings quickly, minimize forced entry damage and protect firefighters from injury, the Alvaton Fire Department and several other area fire departments, including the Bowling Green Fire Department, have adopted the KNOX-BOX Rapid Entry System.
The installation of a high security KNOX-BOX near the entrance of your buildings, gates and/or residence will provide onsite storage of keys, access cards and emergency information. Knox-Boxes are constructed of ¼” solid steel with a ½” steel door and reinforced locking mechanism.
They are UL listed against physical attack and the Medeco security lock is patented and UL listed for drill, pick and pull resistance. The KNOX-BOX is keyed specifically for the Alvaton Fire Department and would be used in cases of emergency or to ensure safety of the property. The master key will be secured in Alvaton Fire Department apparatus (fire trucks) allowing limited access.
The Knox Company has been providing fire departments with the Knox Rapid Entry System for 30 years. More than 7,500 departments and the communities they serve enjoy the benefits of this proven system.
To order Knox-Boxes and/or accessories, go to www.knoxbox.com and select Products/Place Order (green shopping cart). Enter your zip code and select Alvaton Vol Fire Department as your department. It is extremely important that you select the correct fire department from the list. If the wrong fire department is selected, your Knox Products will not work and you will be subjected to a $25.00 re-keying fee. Knox-Box will ship your order directly to you.
Each Knox-Box is shipped without keys, locked in an open position and ready for mounting. Contact the Alvaton Fire Department at (270) 793-0832 once the box is mounted and contents are ready to be placed inside box.
