Community Safe Rooms
Alvaton Fire Department has two designated short-term storm shelters in the event of severe weather. These shelters were provided through grants to ensure the safety of people who live in our community. During the event of severe weather with the potential for tornado activity, members of the Alvaton Fire Department will be onsite to assist members of the community into the safe rooms. The doors of the safe room will automatically unlock for citizens to enter when a tornado warning is issued.
A certain level of rules and order is expected when utilizing the safe rooms. Please follow the rules that are posted so we can continue to provide this service to the community. The rules for the safe room are posted below so please be sure to check them out beforehand. We thank you for your cooperation. The two stations with designated community safe rooms are located at:

Hazardous Weather
Our region of the country is prone to see various forms of hazardous weather throughout the year so it is a good idea to be prepared for any one of these events. Earthquake Tips
We are situated in an area of the country that hasn’t seen a large earthquake in a very long time, but being in close proximity to the New Madrid Fault Line puts our area at a high risk potential in the future. Unlike most other hazardous weather conditions, earthquakes are quite unpredictable so it is a good idea to still be prepared.
